I decided to go and make a new Neopets account. I haven't been on in years. I'd grown nostalgic of the old roleplaying boards that I used to live for...

The reason I quit was because I watched the Roleplaying Board transform from a fun place into a Literate VS Illiterate war. (If you dunno what I'm talking about, they're labels that refer to your roleplaying ability. Literate's, originally, were those who knew what they were doing and wrote with generally fresher plots. Illiterates, tho incorrectly dubbed, refered to those who generally had no punctuation, grammar, spelling, or were just immature. Semi-lits were imbetween.)

I remember when Lits used to be somewhat NICE. After the War of the Literates and Illits, as I like to call it, they got all haughty and wrote, like, 8 paragraph intros. UGH. X__X Also, all their plots were stale. They CLAIMED to be original, but really, they weren't. The Illits became complete jerkoffs and started harrassing others. The Semi-lits mostly just tried to stay out of the way or kinda sided with the Lits.


Anyways, I went back to the Roleplaying Board, not to roleplay, but to observe silently. (Or Lurking, as it's often called, for those of you who don't know.) And what I found dissapointed me. All the "Lits" still consider themselves original, but are rehashing the same old tired plots. The only roleplays readily available are Highschool roleplays (which tend to be repetetive and mary-sue-ish), Boarding School for the Gifted (which is way too overdone), or Midevil (sp?) (which is fine, I spose, but not my interest). I've gotta say, I'm dissapointed. I thought it would've improved, which might've been high standards, but I was looking forward to it.

Thankfully, SOME things did improve. For example, there's hardly any spam anymore, no more rant boards to be seen, and no more harrassing openly. (Mebbe behind-the-scenes, but whatever.)

At least things have calmed down. I AM impressed by that. Although Post-Lit War didn't improve roleplaying levels much, it did improve it's attitude, thank god. I do applaud that. I thought the awfulness of the War would never end.
